Characterising urban stream form, Western Sydney, NSW
Effective urban stream management requires moving beyond the common methods that patch the symptoms to more strategic approaches. In this project for the Blacktown City Council, Western Sydney, Streamology developed an approach to assess the geomorphic condition, and sensitivity to urbanisation, of streams. The predominantly desktop approach was field verified and resulted in goals for stream protection to inform future development. The approach draws upon up-to-date research and is designed to be applicable to a broad range of urban catchment challenges faced by planners and waterway managers.
